Scrip
What is Scrip?
Scrip is the same as gift cards or gift certificates you would purchase for use at a particular merchant such as Safeway, Macy's, the Gap, etc. The Scrip Program is designed so that a percentage of your everyday purchases turn into cash contributions that benefit SSPP. Scrip provides an opportunity for businesses to give back to the community that supports them.
How does it work?
SSPP purchases the Scrip at a discount then sells it to our supporters at full value, keeping the difference as profit. Supporters use the Scrip to pay for goods and services they would routinely buy. For example: SSPP purchases a $100 Macy's Scrip gift card for $94; a supporter purchases the Scrip gift card for $100, thus SSPP profits $6. The supporter still receives $100 worth of goods/services from Macy's.
How to participate:
Every participating family must participate in the Scrip Program.
Option A:
- Enroll in one form of Electronic Scrip
- Purchase $2000 worth of "Paper Scrip" (gift cards).
- A 10% fee will be assessed if the $2000 minimum is not met. For example: if your total Scrip Purchases at the end of the year totals $1500, a fee of $50 will be due (10% of your Scrip Balance).
Option B:
- Enroll in one form of Electronic Scrip and
- In lieu of purchasing Paper Scrip pay the opt out amount of $300.
Paper Scrip
We will keep an inventory of the most popular retailers on hand so that you may purchase them at your convenience. There are more retailers that are available – a copy of the most current list of retailers will be available for viewing at the weekly Scrip table. Orders are placed every Thursday and will be ready for pick-up the following Wednesday. Since Scrip is like cash, no orders will be sent home with your child. Walk up sales generate a lot of business, but we cannot have a Scrip table more than one day a week (Wednesdays) without volunteers! This is a great opportunity to earn service hours!
Electronic Scrip
Some retailers offer a percentage of sales for those shoppers who sign up for their incentive cards (Safeway Club Card, etc.) and designate SSPP to receive the proceeds.
How to fulfill the Electronic Scrip portion
All participating families must enroll in one form of Electronic Scrip:
- Register your Safeway Club Card (http://www.escrip.com) Only new cards need to be registered. If you have already enrolled online, then an authorization to reenroll will be sent out and your card will be automatically renewed. Saints Peter and Paul School eScrip Group ID – 140829054.
- For Whole Foods, Andronico's, AG Ferrari, Draeger's, Food 4 Less, Pack & Save, or Mollie Stone Shoppers: register your Visa or Debit Card at http://www.escrip.com (additional grocers and retailers are available - please refer to escrip site for complete list). Saints Peter and Paul School eScrip Group ID – 140829054.
- Designate SSPP (ID# 2990) as your school choice for purchases made with your Target Credit Card or Target Visa Card.
Only one of the options is required to fulfill the Electronic Scrip portion. Please choose the option that is best for you. For example, if you do not have a Target Card, it is not necessary for you to apply for one.
Earn Service Hours
Service hour credit is given for Electronic Scrip enrollment beyond Mandatory Minimum Requirement. For example, after you choose your required form of Electronic Scrip, if you decide to enroll in the remaining 3 options, you would receive 3 hours of Service Credit. You may also enroll additional family members’ cards (outside of household – Grandparents, etc.) Service hour credit will be given one hour per option – maximum of 5. All Electronic Enrollment must be verified.
Scrip in lieu of Fall Fundraiser
An additional $1200 of Scrip may be purchased in lieu of selling chocolate or gift wrap (a designation letter will be sent out in the Fall).
